Some of the leading soft fruit producers and exporters in Spain are sit to gather together again from 23-25 February this year for Expo-Citfresa 2011, the principal dedicated showcase for Huelva’s strawberry and citrus sector.

The event, which will take place at the Cartaya Fair Grounds in the Andalusian province, will act as a meeting point for Andalusian soft fruit producers, as well as buyers from not jus Spain, bus across Europe.

For the 2011 edition, Expo-Citfresa’s organising committee has planned a series of parallel events, including technical meetings that will detail the latest developments in the sector and enable debate covering related issues.

There will also be a ‘knowledge fair’, whose objective is to encourage the exchange of ideas between government agencies and companies with the aim of developing projects that can help generate measures for greater competitiveness in the sector.

Organisers said that, after eight successful editions, the event has proven itself to be a suitable location for growers in the sector to showcase their products and make new contacts.

Expo-Citfresa’s organising committee, though Huelva’s Chamber of Commerce, has helped bring about the presence of a substantial delegation of berry and citrus producers from the province at this year’s Fruit Logistica.

The Huelva stands will showcase the area’s products through a day of tasting events to take place during the the fair.

Expo-Citfresa said it hopes to encourage greater participation in Huelva Day at Fruit Logistica from both local growers and international buyers at Huelva’s stand in the Andalusia area.
